A collaborative research team from the University of Shizuoka, Kobe University, and Noster Inc. has discovered that HYA (10-hydroxy-cis-12-octadecenoic acid), a metabolite produced by gut bacteria from dietary linoleic acid, suppresses adipocyte hypertrophy by activating AMPK within fat cells.
These findings suggest that HYA may offer a new therapeutic approach for obesity and metabolic disorders.
The results of this study have been published in the international journal Nutrients.
