NOSTER’s strength lies in its technological ability to cultivate many unculturable or viable but non-culturable (VBNC) gut microbes. Gut microbes are the obligate anaerobic and usually live in oxygen-free environments. Therefore, special skills are required to cultivate them under natural environments. The success of our own technology enabled us to produce a unique microbial library that includes more than 1,600 difficult-to-culture strains and more than 300 compounds of the lipid metabolite library.
NOSTER has developed unsurpassed expertise in high precision metagenomics and metabolomics. Furthermore, our standardized analytical technology enables us to investigate links between diseases and the gut microbiome, an ability that we refer to as “gut metabolome plexus”, which is the aggregation of gut microbes derived metabolites. Thus, NOSTER can evaluate gut microbes and metabolites as new candidates for drug discovery while collating them with the our unique library if it is found that they are associated with diseases. This unique system of searching for drug discovery has attracted the attention of researchers all over the world, who are engaged in research on the gut microbiome.
